Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

the are too many words that sound the same, so just listening to single words wouldn't work i guess. it would work with sentences though, where you get the meaning out of context.

You could achieve this by using your own custom dictionary. Simply delete the definition, and listen to the character.

I do exactly this for memorizing some family names, at least the ones that don't really have a dictionary meaning.

I'm hoping we'll eventually be able to do a 听写-style mode along the lines of what eurowatz mentioned. I'll ask the guys if this is a possibility.
