How to use Skritter please? iPad. don't get it

Hi,

Sorry for being dense, but I'm using the trial version & can't figure this app out.

I have no idea how to add words for offline use. I go to the HSK lists, eg: HSK1 and click on them. I then go back to 'study' and it keeps looping about 5 words, wo, de, ni, ta over & over again.

How do I add words from lists so that I can study offline?

I like the stroke orders functionality & would probably like to buy subscription, but I want to be able to use the app offline (ie: when in a bus / taxi and not on wifi).

Many thanks.

You need to be online in order to add words. Once you have added words you can study them offline.

Hi,

thanks for your reply. Yes, I have been online, gone into the HSK lists, then tried to study them offline, but there are no words / lists added. Turned on my wifi again & pressed the sync button again, it says its synced, but when offline, I have no new words.

I've just gone into my account via computer instead of ipad & it only shows 3 'words' in my lists. So, none of the HSK words synced.

Can you assist with a step by step on how to add lists to my study words from iPad? Currently it looks like I need to log in via computer every time I want to add words, then connect my ipad & sync it again. Definitely not convenient. Seems like I'm doing something wrong.

Cheers!

Hi cn. Skritter is set to only add words once you've learned them. You can however override this by manually adding words (clicking the green plus icon several times). When you've added enough words to your liking, you can then sync it to your iPad.

Ooh I forgot. You can also add words via the iPad app.

By the way, just an FYI, subscribing to a list and actually having added the words is different. Hope I helped =) Regards.

Yes, as Joyce says. You need to actually hit the add button and add the words from the list you have selected while you are online. It isn't all that inconvenient once you get started studying because you'll have plenty of your words in the queue for reviewing even if you happen to forget to add some new words the last time you were online.

What I usually do, if I am online (at home or at a hotel) and I know it's my last chance to be online and add words for awhile, is spend five minutes adding words to my queue. Just go through and add them quickly without much attention to remembering them. You can only add a word one at a time, so it takes a few minutes if you want to add many new words.

Oh, and I think you will actually need to be online with your iPad to sync the words. You can't just sync them on a different device that is online. I actually never login on a computer. I always do everything on my iPad.

Go online with your iPad. Pick the list you want to study. Go to 'study' and start going through the words, adding e green 'plus' button frequently to add words from the list. Once you go offline, all those words will remain synced and in the queue to be studied until you know them well enough.

I always add from the iPad, because it is more convenient on the iOS app compared to the web app. Just double click the green plus button and then you can select a number up to 100 and these items are then added from your list(s) to your learning queue. However, they do not come all immediately, but they are spread out so that the user is not overwhelmed.

When you add words, you don't need to review them. You just need to get them added to your queue...

Therefore, you don't need to spend 5 minutes to do it, but rather just DOUBLE PRESS on the add button (while online), and it will ask you how many words to add. Select the quantity and wait until it confirms that all "xx words added". Then you can go offline and study them at your leisure.
